Abimelech, son of Gideon, made an agreement with the men of Sychem and then slew his seventy brothers in order to become King of Israel. The men of Sychem gave him 70 pieces of silver to slay his family and become king, but Joathim escaped to Mount Garizin (the mountain of blessing) and proclaimed a curse over the Abimelech and the men of Sychem, that they would annihilate each other. Three years later it came to pass.
