Levítico 19: El verdadero propósito de guardar la ley.

Levitico 19:1-19:
1 El SEÑOR habló a Moisés diciendo: 2 “Habla a toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel y diles: ‘Sean santos, porque yo, el SEÑOR su Dios, soy santo.
3 “‘Cada uno de ustedes respete a su madre y a su padre.
“‘Guarden mis sábados. Yo, el SEÑOR, su Dios.
4 “‘No recurran a los ídolos, ni los hagan dioses de fundición. Yo, el SEÑOR, su Dios.
5 “‘Cuando ofrezcan sacrificios de paz al SEÑOR, háganlo de tal manera que sean aceptados. 6 Será comido el día que lo sacrifiquen y al día siguiente. Lo que quede para el tercer día será quemado en el fuego. 7 Si se come algo de ello en el tercer día, eso será considerado inmundo y no será aceptado. 8 El que lo coma cargará con su culpa, porque profanó lo que ha sido consagrado al SEÑOR. Tal persona será excluida de su pueblo.
9 “‘Cuando sieguen la mies de su tierra, no segarás hasta el último rincón de tu campo ni recogerás las espigas en tu campo segado. 10 Tampoco rebuscarás tu viña ni recogerás las uvas caídas de tu viña. Las dejarás para el pobre y para el extranjero. Yo, el SEÑOR, su Dios.
11 “‘No robarán ni mentirán ni se engañarán el uno al otro.
12 “‘No jurarán falsamente por mi nombre, profanando el nombre de tu Dios. Yo, el SEÑOR.
13 “‘No oprimirás a tu prójimo ni le robarás. El salario del jornalero no será retenido contigo en tu casa hasta la mañana siguiente.
14 “‘No maldecirás al sordo ni pondrás tropiezo delante del ciego; sino que tendrás temor de tu Dios. Yo, el SEÑOR.
15 “‘No harás injusticia en el juicio. No favorecerás al pobre ni tratarás con deferencia al poderoso. Juzgarás a tu prójimo con justicia.
16 “‘No andarás calumniando en medio de tu pueblo.
“‘No atentarás contra la vida de tu prójimo. Yo, el SEÑOR.
17 “‘No aborrecerás en tu corazón a tu hermano. Ciertamente amonestarás a tu prójimo, para que no cargues con pecado a causa de él.
18 “‘No te vengarás ni guardarás rencor a los hijos de tu pueblo. Más bien, amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo. Yo, el SEÑOR.
19 “‘Guardarán mis estatutos.

Este capítulo es muy lindo porque encontramos diferentes consejos prácticos para todo aquel que tiene el deseo de agradar a Dios.
No todos los puntos son viables en la actualidad, especialmente para nosotros los gentiles, pero estoy seguro que Dios te mostrará los puntos que todavía son vigentes, pues la mayoría hablan acerca del trato hacia el prójimo, y esto no tiene tiempo de caducidad. Estos consejos trascienden los tiempos, pues Jesucristo los enseñó a sus discípulos también.
Detrás de todos los sacrificios de ofrendas y rituales, lo que realmente debe reflejar el creyente es el fruto de justicia, honestidad, integridad, compasión y mansedumbre.
El Señor, en su sabiduría, nos muestra ejemplos muy claros acerca del trato con nuestro prójimo. Cómo convivimos con nuestras familias. No oprimir, no estafar, ni engañar, no maltratar, no abusar, no hablar mal de los que te rodean. Especialmente, ¡Dios es claro de no guardar rencor, más bien dar amor!

Para nosotros los cristianos, que no estamos bajo la ley, estos puntos que vemos en la ley muestran el deseo del Señor de que todos lo que se acercan a Él reflejen estas virtudes, estas actitudes, pues este es el corazón de Dios.
Si somos hijos de Dios, debemos ser como nuestro Padre Celestial.
Antes, era fácil llevar una ofrenda a la presencia de Dios y, a la misma vez, vivir vidas injustas. Asesinaban por robarse la herencia del vecino, o hacían ayunos para juzgar falsamente al adversario para que fuera apedreado.

Hoy en día, también es fácil ir al templo, cantar con las manos levantadas, orar lindo y hasta evangelizar y, a la misma vez, vivir en conflicto constante con la pareja, serle infiel en el corazón, exasperar a los hijos tratándolos mal y desanimarlos con el mal testimonio que les damos, y ofender al prójimo sin piedad ni temor alguno de Dios.
Guardémonos de vivir una doble vida. Antes de traer nuestras alabanzas al Señor o de servirle en algún área del ministerio, evaluemos cómo estamos interactuando y conviviendo con nuestro prójimo.
Cuando tienes un malentendido, ¿buscas resolverlo? Cuando te lastiman, ¿pasas por alto la ofensa y no guardas rencor? Cuando ves a alguien necesitado, ¿lo ignoras o buscas cómo darle una mano de ayuda?
Espero que este capítulo nos haga reflexionar de las actitudes que un hijo de Dios, purificado y santificado, debe tener en su diario vivir. Desde la casa, en el trabajo y en la congregación.
Este es el reto de nuestro diario vivir.

Leviticus 19: The real purpose of keeping the law.

Leviticus 19:1-19:
And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy. ‘Every one of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My Sabbaths: I am the Lord your God. ‘Do not turn to idols, nor make for yourselves molded gods: I am the Lord your God. ‘And if you offer a sacrifice of a peace offering to the Lord, you shall offer it of your own free will. It shall be eaten the same day you offer it, and on the next day. And if any remains until the third day, it shall be burned in the fire. And if it is eaten at all on the third day, it is an abomination. It shall not be accepted. Therefore everyone who eats it shall bear his iniquity, because he has profaned the hallowed offering of the Lord; and that person shall be cut off from his people. ‘When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest. And you shall not glean your vineyard, nor shall you gather every grape of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the stranger: I am the Lord your God. ‘You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another. And you shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the Lord. ‘You shall not cheat your neighbor, nor rob him. The wages of him who is hired shall not remain with you all night until morning. You shall not curse the deaf, nor put a stumbling block before the blind, but shall fear your God: I am the Lord. ‘You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor honor the person of the mighty. In righteousness you shall judge your neighbor. You shall not go about as a talebearer among your people; nor shall you take a stand against the life of your neighbor: I am the Lord. ‘You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your neighbor, and not bear sin because of him. You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord. ‘You shall keep My statutes.

This chapter is very nice because we find different practical advice for everyone who has the desire to please God.
Not all the points are viable today, especially for us Gentiles, but I am sure that God will show you the points that are still valid, since most of them talk about treating others, and this has no expiration time. These pieces of advice transcend time, because Jesus Christ taught them to His disciples as well.
Behind all the sacrifices of offerings and rituals, what the believer should really reflect is the fruit of justice, honesty, integrity, compassion and meekness.
The Lord, in His wisdom, shows us very clear examples of dealing with our neighbor. How do we live with our families? Don't oppress, don't deceive, don't cheat, don't mistreat, don't abuse, don't speak ill of those around you. Especially, God is clear not to hold grudges, rather to give love!

For us Christians, who are not under the law, these points that we see in the law show the Lord's desire that all who approach Him reflect these virtues, these attitudes, because this is the heart of God.
If we are children of God, we must be like our Heavenly Father.
Before, it was easy to bring an offering to the presence of God and, at the same time, live unrighteous lives. They murdered to steal the neighbor's inheritance, or fasted to falsely judge the adversary so that he would be stoned.

Today, it is also easy to go to church, sing with raised hands, pray nicely and even evangelize and, at the same time, live in constant conflict with the partner, be unfaithful in the heart, exasperating the children by treating them badly and discourage them with the bad testimony we give them, and offend others without mercy or fear of God.
Let us beware of living a double life. Before we bring our praises to the Lord or serve Him in any area of ​​ministry, let's evaluate how we are interacting and living with our neighbor.
When you have a misunderstanding, do you seek to resolve it? When you're hurt, do you overlook the offense and hold no grudge? When you see someone in need, do you ignore them or look for a way to give them a helping hand?
I hope that this chapter makes us reflect on the attitudes that a child of God, purified and sanctified, must have in his daily life. From home, at work and in the congregation. This is the challenge of our daily life.
