show moreOver the course of two decades Johnson has coached 62 NFCA All-Americans, 42 NJCAA All-Americans, 16 MSAC Player of the Year recipients, 10 Region III Player of the Year recipients, four Region III Female Athlete of the Year recipients, and has sent 31 players to further their playing careers on scholarships. Her teams have participated in fourteen Region III Finals, having been crowned Champions seven times. Johnson prides her program on the foundation of a "sisterhood" and focusses on building habits that will help her players win in life after softball by becoming strong, independant and confident women.
A graduate of Elmira Southside, Johnson was a three-sport athlete throughout her high school athletic career. She went on to play collegiate softball at Ithaca College where she ranks 10th in career strikeouts and 12th in career wins among Bombers pitchers, despite having only played for two seasons. She has since been inducted to the Elmira Southside High School Hall of Fame, Chemung County Sports Hall of Fame, Corning-Painted Post Sports Hall of Fame, SUNY Corning Community College Athletics Hall of Fame and Ithaca College Athletics Hall of Fame.
Johnson is currently Commissioner of the MSAC as well as the Region III Softball Coaches Association, and also serves on the NFCA All-American selection committee. She holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education from Ithaca College and a master’s degree in management from Keuka College. Having joined the Red Baron family in 1995 when she was named Head Coach of the women’s basketball program, she has since held multiple positions within Red Barons Athletics, including Director of Athletics from 2009-2017. She now serves the CCC campus community as Assistant Dean of Student Services, overseeing Athletics, Student Life, Residence Life, Mental Health Services and Student Conduct.
