A club that served the needs of children is closing in Albany because of the violence that surrounds it. Pastor Charlie Muller of Victory Church says it was a difficult decision to close the JC Club but they could no longer ensure the safety of workers or the children coming there for programs. For 20 years the club fed kids and helped them with their homework at 498 1st Street in Albany. In recent years the building has been struck by bullets. Also recently, a man was killed outside.
Muller announced today that the building has been sold. He says the church will continue bringing services to the community through mobile events.
WGY”S Diane Donato talked with Muller as he was heading out the door to finish moving the last supplies out of the building. He talked about the violence and their efforts to increase security before closing the club. Muller says he is hopeful that their mobile units will be able to continue their efforts.
