show moreLast week we heard a message about the Greatest Commandment – Love God Completely. Today, and God willing, next Sunday, we shall unpack the second greatest commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Before you or I can love our neighbor as ourselves, we need to understand how the LORD expects us to love ourselves.
I.We are to love ourselves correctly because God purposefully created us. (Psalm 139.13-14)
II.We are to love ourselves correctly because the Spirit of the living God resides inside each of us. (Eph 3.20)
III.We are to love ourselves correctly because God requires humility from us. (Rom 12.3)
God does not want us to under love ourselves because we are somebody special. He created us and His spirit resides inside of us. God does not want us to over love ourselves. The creation is not greater than the Creator. Loving ourselves correctly is recognizing our value in the LORD! When you look in the mirror again, I hope you see the greatness inside of you, the Spirit of the living God, that causes you to love yourself correctly.
Amen.
