Story Transcript:
En: On a sunny day towards the end of summer, Bergen shimmered with its colorful wooden buildings.
En: The streets were bustling with activity, people hurried about with backpacks and bags filled with school supplies.
Nb: Midt i travelheten gikk Maja og Sander langs bryggen.
En: Amidst the hustle and bustle, Maja and Sander walked along the wharf.
En: Maja, always nearly overzealous when it came to schoolwork, had a list in her hand.
En: Sander, on the other hand, danced down the pathway, already preoccupied with thoughts of the ice cream he hoped to get soon.
Nb: "Kom igjen, Sander," sa Maja bestemt.
En: "Come on, Sander," Maja said firmly.
Nb: "Vi må få tak i disse tingene før butikkene stenger."
En: "We have to get these things before the stores close."
En: Sander, with his impulsive energy, quickly stopped by a shop window.
Nb: "Se!
En: "Look!
Nb: En fjernstyrt bil!
En: A remote-controlled car!
Nb: Kan vi ikke gå inn å se?"
En: Can't we go in and take a look?"
En: She knew that if she wasn't strict, this shopping trip would never end.
En: They moved on towards the large shopping center.
En: The store was full of children and parents, all in search of notebooks and crayons.
Nb: "Ingen flere stopp, Sander, vær så snill," sa Maja tålmodig.
En: "No more stops, Sander, please," Maja said patiently.
En: Still, Sander managed to sneak over to a shelf with colorful stickers.
Nb: Han begynte å legge dem i handlekurven.
En: He began to put them in the shopping basket.
Nb: Med stigende frustrasjon så Maja klokken tikke.
En: With rising frustration, Maja watched the clock tick away.
Nb: "Sander!"
En: "Sander!"
Nb: ropte hun høyere enn planlagt.
En: she shouted louder than she had planned.
En: Suddenly, several heads turned towards them, and the hum of the store quieted for a moment.
En: Maja looked her brother straight in the eyes, and Sander had a surprised expression.
Nb: Hun innså at hun kanskje hadde gått for langt.
En: She realized she might have gone too far.
Nb: Hun tok et dypt pust.
En: She took a deep breath.
Nb: "Beklager," begynte hun, mykere nå.
En: "Sorry," she started, softer now.
Nb: "Jeg vet du vil ha det gøy, men vi må få dette gjort."
En: "I know you want to have fun, but we need to get this done."
Nb: Sander smilte skjevt.
En: He didn't want to disrupt, but the colorful things were tempting.
En: Then, with a sly smile, he suggested, "How about we do a bit of both?
Nb: Handle litt, så en ispause?"
En: A little shopping, then an ice cream break?"
Nb: Maja, litt lettet, nikket.
En: Maja, somewhat relieved, nodded.
Nb: "Ok, men vi må holde balansen, avtale?"
En: "Okay, but we have to keep a balance, deal?"
Nb: "Avtale!"
En: "Deal!"
Nb: Sander strålte.
En: Sander beamed.
Nb: De fortsatte shoppingen, men Maja tillot litt mer frihet.
En: They continued shopping, but Maja allowed a bit more freedom.
En: They took turns picking school supplies and sneaking in ice cream and fun.
En: Slowly but surely the shopping list grew shorter, and light steps replaced the previous stress.
En: As the sun began to dip towards the horizon, Maja and Sander stood by the wharf again.
Nb: Posene var fylte.
En: The bags were filled.
Nb: Maja hadde lært at litt fleksibilitet ikke bare gjorde dagen enklere, men også mye mer fornøyelig.
En: Maja had learned that a little flexibility not only made the day easier but also much more enjoyable.
En: They looked out over the shimmering waves in the sea.
En: "Shall we go home, or is there something fun you want to do more?"
Nb: spurte Maja med et nytt smil.
En: Maja asked with a new smile.
Nb: Sander tenkte et øyeblikk.
En: Sander thought for a moment.
Nb: "Hva med en tur til akvariet?"
En: "How about a trip to the aquarium?"
Nb: Maja lo.
En: Maja laughed.
Nb: "Greit, men kun en liten tur."
En: "Alright, but just a short visit."
En: With that, they set course for their next adventure, both more pleased than ever.
En: Today they had learned that the journey itself can be just as important as the destination.
