49, Maybe I'm Not Leaving, Maybe I'm Just Going Home

Melissa Pennel is a mom to two little girls, a wife, an author, a life coach, and is pushing through life, full steam ahead. She has used her grief along with her own unanswered questions to create journals for mothers and sons, mothers and daughters, and most recently fathers and sons and fathers and daughters.

Melissa speaks about her father and his role in her life, including his absence, reappearance, and death. Melissa struggled with addiction, and discusses finding her sobriety in the last year of her mom's life. Melissa's mom, Delise, passed away in her sleep unexpectedly. She shares the gifts her mother gave to her throughout her life and describes the tole her mother's death took on her, and how she copes with this loss.

Melissa's advice: Go straight into that pain. Wail and sob and scream and rage. Go into it, don't be afraid of it. Know that by going into it, it will mean you can move past it.
