On Episode #35: "Auto Reporter Jeff Gilbert on GM's new 'Factory Zero' and voting for the North American Car Of The Year," producer Phil Tower and hosts Al Schwinkendorf and John Puhek welcome WWJ Radio/CBS NewsRadio auto analyst, Jeff Gilbert for a behind-the-scenes look at GM's all-new, State of the art facility for building electric vehicles known as, "Factory Zero." Located in Hamtramck, Michigan, Factory ZERO is touted as GM’s first fully dedicated electric vehicle assembly plant. Factory Zero is actually a retooled version of GM's old Detroit-Hamtramck, plant that was built in 1985, and cranked out over 3 million General Motors vehicles. GM says Factory Zero is "one of the most modern automotive plants in the country."
Jeff also discusses his unique role as one of 50 esteemed jurors who get to choose the annual winners for The North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards (NACTOY)
These prestigious awards are judged by a jury of 50 professional automotive journalists from the United States and Canada. Jeff explains that the North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year (NACTOY) Awards are all about honoring excellence in innovation, design, safety, performance, technology, driver satisfaction, and value. The awards were created in 1994 and are the longest-running new-vehicle awards not associated with a single publication, website, radio, or television station. In other words, they're a really big deal and Jeff Gilbert is one of the 50 jurors!
