Sarah joins us from Quinta da Chumbaria, a small village situated in the rolling hills of Central Portugal, dating back many hundreds of years - the first exposed hempcrete houses in Portugal, offering a taste of sustainable eco-building.

Surrounded by stunning views and scenery at Chumbaria, Steve and Sarah are the couple responsible for this restoration project, whose story was featured in television series ‘Help! We Bought a Village’ on Channel 4 UK TV.

They moved to Portugal in 2020 to develop a life of regeneration and are bringing the village back to life, since it was abandoned in 1975. Using the ethics of permaculture to help them regenerate the land and learn to live a more simple way of life.
