November 25: Forming the faith of the new generation.

Psalms 78:1-17:
Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth. I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old, which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children; that the generation to come might know them, the children who would be born, that they may arise and declare them to their children, that they may set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments; and may not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that did not set its heart aright, and whose spirit was not faithful to God. The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle. They did not keep the covenant of God; they refused to walk in His law, and forgot His works and His wonders that He had shown them. Marvelous things He did in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan. He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters stand up like a heap. In the daytime also He led them with the cloud, and all the night with a light of fire. He split the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink in abundance like the depths. He also brought streams out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers. But they sinned even more against Him by rebelling against the Most High in the wilderness.


This psalm is a retelling of the history of Israel from the time they left Egypt until the reign of David. It is a very interesting summary and I encourage you to read the chapter completely.
It is a psalm written as a reflection and warning for adults, parents or those who are in charge of children and young people.
One of the best teachers for human beings is history. Learning from the past and not repeating the same mistakes is a practical way to be able to illustrate with examples to the new generation as established by God in the law. Not only so that they would learn to be true followers and worshipers of the Lord, following God with all their heart, but also so that they would not forget the Lord and commit the same sins as their ancestors.
This is a great lesson for everyone. We like to tell our children about our achievements, goals achieved, feats of grandparents, renowned positions achieved by a member of the family, etc. but we avoid telling the mistakes that we also made in the past or any member of the family. Perhaps out of embarrassment or for not continuing to remember the pain caused by that loved one who made a mistake.
Although it is painful, we must think about what things or how we must also tell those mistakes. Let's tell the good, the bad and the ugly. That our children learn from our bad decisions or consequences that we have committed in our lives so that they don't repeat history. Let them know that we are human beings who made mistakes, that we faced painful consequences and that we learned from them. This exercise can be done according to their ages and without necessarily going to specific details, but focusing on the moral and spiritual lesson.

Usually the enemy will seek to bring down the next generation of the family with the same traps. Israel continually fell into idolatry. They carried idols from Egypt, when they went out and walked through the desert, and even when they arrived in the promised land, they worshiped the new idols of the land where God was going to bless them. They followed the idols of Egypt and Canaan. They tempted the Lord many times with their unbelief.
Why? Because they did not set in their hearts the desire to be faithful to the Lord! They had no intention of persevering! Only when they needed God to rescue them and bless them with food, there they looked for Him, but in abundance they did not honor Him. That is why God rejected Israel and chose Judah as the land of blessing. When David reigned, he did so with justice, compassion, wisdom, leading the people into the presence of God.

Gather your family, establish moral principles and rules based on the Word of God, form a new circle of intimacy with each other and with God. Also, tell them how difficult it was when they did not follow God's advice and explain the process of restoration when someone makes a mistake, and the process of destruction and damnation when someone voluntarily and rebelliously renounces the faith.

Consider this:
When you listen to someone's testimony, are you attentive to learn from the result of their actions?

Noviembre 25: Formando la fe de la nueva generación.

Salmos 78:1‭-‬17 RVA2015:
Escucha, oh pueblo mío, mi ley; inclinen ustedes su oído a las palabras de mi boca. Abriré mi boca en parábolas; evocaré las cosas escondidas del pasado, las cuales hemos oído y entendido, porque nos las contaron nuestros padres. No las encubriremos a sus hijos. A la generación venidera contaremos las alabanzas del SEÑOR, y de su poder y de las maravillas que hizo. Él estableció su testimonio en Jacob y puso la ley en Israel. Mandó a nuestros padres que lo hicieran conocer a sus hijos para que lo supiera la generación venidera y sus hijos que nacieran, para que los que surgieran lo contaran a sus hijos, para que pusieran en Dios su confianza y no se olvidaran de las obras de Dios, a fin de que guardaran sus mandamientos; para que no fuesen como sus padres: una generación porfiada y rebelde, una generación que no dispuso su corazón, ni su espíritu fue fiel para con Dios. Los hijos de Efraín, armados con excelentes arcos, volvieron las espaldas en el día de la batalla. No guardaron el pacto de Dios y rehusaron andar en su ley. Más bien, se olvidaron de sus obras; de las maravillas que les había mostrado. Delante de sus padres Dios hizo maravillas en la tierra de Egipto, en los campos de Tanis. Dividió el mar y los hizo pasar; hizo que las aguas se detuvieran como en un dique. De día los condujo con una nube; toda la noche con resplandor de fuego. Partió las peñas en el desierto y les dio a beber del gran abismo. Sacó corrientes de la peña e hizo descender aguas como ríos. A pesar de esto, volvieron a pecar contra él; se rebelaron contra el Altísimo en el desierto.


Este salmo es un recuento de la historia de Israel desde que salieron de Egipto hasta el reinado de David. Es un resumen muy interesante y te animo para que leas completamente el capítulo.
Es un salmo escrito como reflexión y advertencia para los adultos, los padres o los que están a cargo de niños y jóvenes.
Uno de los mejores maestros para el ser humano es la historia. Aprender del pasado y no repetir sus mismos errores es una forma práctica para poder ilustrar con ejemplos a la nueva generación asi como lo estableció Dios en la ley. No solo para que aprendieran a ser verdaderos seguidores y adoradores del Señor, siguiendo a Dios con todo su corazón, sino también para que no se olvidaran del Señor y cometieran los mismos pecados de sus antepasados.
Esta es una gran lección para todos. Nos gusta contarle a nuestros hijos nuestros logros, metas alcanzadas, hazañas de los abuelos, posiciones de renombre alcanzados por algún miembro de la familia, etc. pero evitamos contar los errores que también cometimos en el pasado o algún miembro de la familia. Tal vez por vergüenza o por no continuar recordando el dolor que produjo ese ser querido que se equivocó.
Aunque es doloroso debemos pensar qué cosas o cómo debemos contar también esos errores. Contemos lo bueno, lo malo y lo feo. Que nuestros hijos aprendan de nuestras malas decisiones o consecuencias que hemos cometido en nuestras vidas para que ellos no repitan la historia. Que sepan que somos seres humanos que nos equivocamos, que enfrentamos las consecuencias dolorosas y que aprendimos de ellas. Este ejercicio se puede hacer de acuerdo a sus edades y sin ir necesariamente a detalles específicos, pero sí en enfocarse en la lección moral y espiritual.

Usualmente el enemigo va a buscar hacer caer a la siguiente generación de la familia con las mismas trampas. Israel caía continuamente en la idolatría. Cargaban con ídolos desde Egipto, cuando salieron y caminaron por el desierto, y aun cuando llegaron a la tierra prometida, adoraban los nuevos ídolos de la tierra a donde Dios los iba a bendecir. Siguieron los ídolos de Egipto y Canaán. Tentaron al Señor muchas veces con su incredulidad.
¿Por qué? ¡Porque no propusieron en su corazón el anhelo de ser fieles al Señor! ¡No tenían intención de ser perseverantes! Solo cuando necesitaban que Dios los rescatara y los bendijera con alimentos, ahí si lo buscaban, pero en la abundancia no lo honraban. Por eso Dios desechó a Israel y escogió a Judá como tierra de bendición. Cuando David reinó, lo hizo con justicia, compasión, sabiduría, guiando al pueblo hacia la presencia de Dios.

Reúne a tu familia, establece principios y reglas morales basadas en la Palabra de Dios, formen un nuevo círculo de intimidad entre ustedes y con Dios. También, cuéntales lo difícil que fue cuando no siguieron el consejo de Dios y expliquen el proceso de restauración cuando alguien se equivoca, y el proceso de destrucción y maldición cuando alguien renuncia voluntariamente y con rebeldía a la fe.

Considera:
Cuando escuchas el testimonio de alguien, ¿estás atento para aprender del resultado de sus acciones?
