Salmos 23:1‭-‬6 RVA2015:
El SEÑOR es mi pastor; nada me faltará. En prados de tiernos pastos me hace descansar. Junto a aguas tranquilas me conduce. Confortará mi alma y me guiará por sendas de justicia por amor de su nombre. Aunque ande en valle de sombra de muerte no temeré mal alguno, porque tú estarás conmigo. Tu vara y tu cayado me infundirán aliento. Preparas mesa delante de mí en presencia de mis adversarios. Unges mi cabeza con aceite; mi copa está rebosando. Ciertamente el bien y la misericordia me seguirán todos los días de mi vida, y en la casa del SEÑOR moraré por días sin fin.


Este es uno de los salmos más reconocidos a nivel mundial; podríamos decir que este es uno de los más famosos pasajes bíblicos de la Biblia. Tanto creyentes como agnósticos y hasta ateos han escuchado este salmo.
Pero, ¿qué es lo que lo hace tan atractivo para los que han tenido la oportunidad de leerlo?
Puede ser por su forma poética en que está escrito. También por la intimidad que existe entre el Pastor y el que lo escribió.
Es el salmo de alguien que ha experimentado la protección y cuidado que todos los seres humanos necesitamos y anhelamos tanto.
Estamos viviendo en un mundo en el que cada día se incrementa la inseguridad por la violencia y las injusticias. Aquí es donde éste salmo es tan importante y vital para nuestra vida.
También es fácil comprenderlo porque la analogía es la de una oveja alabando el cuidado de su pastor, mostrando aquí que nosotros, como seres humanos, somos frágiles y dependientes de un protector continuo las 24 horas del día.
La cualidades del buen buen pastor son muchas: provee descanso en tiempos de afanes, da alimentación y busca fuentes para calmar la sed, llena toda necesidad y da protección en tiempos de incertidumbre.
En los momentos más oscuros de nuestra vida, de tristeza, de dolor, o momentos depresivos, el Señor se hace presente, nos deja sentir Su presencia aunque no veamos muy bien el camino ni sepamos a dónde ir.
Como ovejas, la vara es un instrumento de guianza, el cayado ayuda al pastor para rescatar ovejas que han caído en un hoyo. La autoridad de Dios en Su Palabra nos da seguridad, pues las promesas de Dios son seguras, que nos guían y nos socorren.
El buen pastor nos exalta en frente de los que han querido hacernos mal, llenándonos de bendiciones.
Dicen los teólogos que la representación del aceite aquí sobre la oveja es para proteger de las moscas que enferman los ojos de las ovejas. El aceite crea una barrera protectora de sanidad sobre alguna herida; y todo esto lo hace un buen pastor porque sus ovejas son muy valiosas y amadas por él. Así mismo, el Señor nos sella con su santo Espíritu para protegernos y elegirnos como parte de su redil.
Por último, este pastor tiene dos "perros ovejeros" que ayudan al pastor a guiar a las ovejas y protegerlas a la misma vez de los devoradores. El bien y la misericordia son cualidades de Dios que son como regalos que siempre nos van a acompañar. La bondad y la verdad de Dios son guardianes de nuestra alma y corazón. Y así permaneceremos por siempre en Su presencia, estaremos con Dios en la eternidad y nada ni nadie nos podrá separar de Su grande amor.

October 8: Letter from a sheep to his Shepherd.

Psalms 23:1-6:
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.


This is one of the most recognized psalms worldwide; we could say that this is one of the most famous biblical passages in the Bible. Both believers and agnostics and even atheists have heard this psalm.
But what is it that makes it so attractive to those who have had the opportunity to read it?
It may be because of the poetic way in which it is written. Also because of the intimacy that exists between the Pastor and the one who wrote it.
It is the psalm of someone who has experienced the protection and care that all human beings need and yearn for so much.
We are living in a world in which insecurity increases every day due to violence and injustices. This is where this psalm is so important and vital to our lives.
It is also easy to understand because the analogy is that of a sheep praising the care of its shepherd, showing here that we, as human beings, are fragile and dependent on a continuous protector 24 hours a day.
The qualities of the good shepherd are many: he provides rest in times of trouble, he gives nourishment and seeks sources to quench thirst, he fills every need and gives protection in times of uncertainty.
In the darkest moments of our life, of sadness, pain, or depressive moments, the Lord is present, He lets us feel His presence even if we do not see the path very well or know where to go.
Like sheep, the rod is a guiding instrument, the staff helps the shepherd to rescue the sheep that have fallen into a hole. The authority of God in His Word gives us security, because the promises of God are sure, that guide us and help us.
The good shepherd exalts us in front of those who have wanted to do us harm, filling us with blessings.
Theologians say that the representation of the oil here on the sheep is to protect from the flies that make the sheep's eyes sick. The oil creates a protective barrier of healing over any wound; and all this a good shepherd does because his sheeps are very valuable and loved by him. Likewise, the Lord seals us with His holy Spirit to protect us and choose us as part of His fold.
Finally, this shepherd has two "sheepdogs" that help the shepherd to guide the sheeps and protect them at the same time from the devourers. Good and mercy are qualities of God that are like gifts that will always accompany us. The goodness and truth of God are guardians of our soul and heart. And so we will remain forever in His presence, we will be with God in eternity and nothing and no one can separate us from His great love.

Do you feel part of God's fold?
Are you within the herd or far from it?
