Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, is currently in mourning following the recent death of its President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
Chief Iwuanyanwu’s death is particularly poignant as it follows the passing of his predecessor, Prof. George Obiozor, who died on December 28, 2022.
Chief Iwuanyanwu passed away on July 25, 2024, at the age of 81.
These losses have brought significant attention to Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s crucial role in Igbo socio-political life and its ongoing challenges. Both leaders were instrumental in advancing the Igbo cause through cultural promotion, economic development, and political advocacy.
Here, we sought to understand from our guest, Chief Damian Okeke Ogene (Vice-President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide) the role of Ohanaeze in wading through these transitions and its plans to ensure that the late leader's dreams for the Igbo people are realized.
