Scripture Texts are Psalm 23.3 and Matthew 7.12-14.
Subject is “Order My Steps.”
Welcome to Communion Sunday as we continue in our series, The Good Shepherd. In Psalm 23, according to multiple translations, we are led to the water but guided in the path. The Good Shepherd knows the right path to our destination, and He wants to guide us along the way.
I.When we honor His name, by our obedience, God gets the glory.
-The shepherd is respected when the sheep follow him.
-Exo 9.16 Pharaoh had to learn about the power of God’s name. God gets the glory!
-Php 2.9-11 At the name of Jesus… God gets the glory!
-(cf. Psa_25:11; Psa_31:3; Psa_106:8; Isa_43:25; Isa_48:9).
II.When we honor His name, by our obedience, we are blessed.
-The sheep safely reach their destinations by staying in the path.
-Joshua 1.6-9. Prosperity and success are in our obedience.
III.When we honor His name, by our obedience, others can benefit.
-Sheep are herd animals. They follow the sheep in front of them usually. The lead sheep can be a blessing or a curse by following the shepherd or going astray.
-Blessed to be a blessing.
-We know the Way. We can help others discover the Way!
-Matt 7.12-14
Conclusion: Mat 5:16 NIV “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” 1Pe 2:12 NLT “Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.”
How do we do this? By letting the Good Shepherd guide us in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Then God will get the glory, we will be blessed, and others can benefit. Amen. The door of salvation is open.
