In this engaging episode, Pipeman talks with one of his favorite interviews on The Adventures of Pipeman at Welcome To Rockville 2023. We had the pleasure of chatting with Pat Thetic from Anti-Flag. We reminisced about our experiences at various music festivals, from Rockville to Hellfest to Punk in the Park, and discussed the thrill of playing shows and connecting with the audience. We also shared our thoughts on the wild experience of driving around the Daytona Speedway, the politics of the Confederate flag, and the upcoming election involving Trump and DeSantis.

We also explored the concept of 'woke' and what it means and how it is being attacked by the Republican party and how President Trump has branded everything with his name. Listen in as we discuss the rhetoric of being 'anti-woke' and how it's really about those in power and their own economic benefits, rather than helping people. We also consider how the attempted coup on January 6th and how dictators and autocrats have long used killings to stay in power.

--------- EPISODE CHAPTERS WITH FULL SUMMARIES ---------

(0:00:04) - Rockville's Politics and Racing (6 Minutes)

We talk about our favorite guest at Welcome to Rockville, Pat Thetic from Anti-Flag, and how we've done so many festivals that it's hard to keep track. We discuss the experience of driving around the Daytona Speedway and the guy who drove us around in the golf cart who said he did 70 in a suburban. We also talk about the Confederate flag and how NASCAR got rid of it, and the people in Florida who are proud to call themselves "crackers". We speculate on the upcoming election and how Trump and DeSantis will join forces, with the question of who will take the second fiddle still up in the air.

(0:06:07) - Power, Politics, and Prejudice (12 Minutes)

We discuss how the concept of 'woke' has been adopted by the Republican party and how President Trump has branded everything with his name. We explore how the rhetoric of being 'anti-woke' is really about those in power and their own economic benefits, rather than helping people. It is inconceivable that people can be Christian and yet not respect their own grandchild's pronouns. We also consider how the attempted coup on January 6th would have been successful if Trump had started killing people, and how dictators and autocrats have long used killings to stay in power.

(0:18:12) - Music Festival Touring (11 Minutes)

We explore the different kinds of festivals we've seen - from Rockville to Hellfest to Punk in the Park - and reflect on how the festival scene has changed over the years. We discuss the thrill of playing shows and the joy of connecting with the audience, and revel in the camaraderie of being on tour with our fellow musicians. We also reflect on the unique experiences of each festival - from the heat of Hellfest to the dystopian vibes of Sweden - and how it's been a wild ride for us as performers.
