Leslie and phone callers discussed President Obama's comments that he made in Cleveland yesterday suggesting that the United States should potentially adopt mandatory voting rules.

“Other countries have mandatory voting,” Obama said, “It would be transformative if everybody voted – that would counteract money more than anything.”

Some questions Leslie raised included:

1. Do you believe that if every eligible citizen voted in the U.S, it would completely change the political spectrum?

2. Have politicians made it their goal to disenfranchise and disengage the public so that we don't turn out to vote and they can continue to manipulate government?

3. Should President Obama move forward with his endorsement of mandatory voting in the U.S? Why/Why Not?

4. Every U.S Citizen complains about their government, and yet they still don't vote to make a change in who leads. Would people be more engaged in politics and social issues if they were required to vote?

5. What changes do you think would happen in this country if every citizen voted? What about in other countries around the world?
