How do you walk away from a sport that has been your lifeblood since you were 8 years old? Nobody loves boxing more than our expert analyst, Travis Hartman, who says he's retiring -- probably -- after 41 fights in 14 years against the likes of Keith Thurman, Terence Crawford, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and Jesse Vargas. Travis lost 26 times in a career in which he fought 16 undefeated fighters, three once-beaten opponents, and another foe with a 16-2 record. Those 20 boxers, combined, were 190-5.
We invited Travis (a three-time national amateur champ) and his younger brother Drew (also a national amateur champ, now 9-0 as a pro) to join us for an in-depth conversation about a sport that gave them an international lifestyle with highs and lows the rest of us can only imagine. If you think these guys have stories to tell, you're absolutely right.
Before that in-depth interview, we hear from British correspondent Paul McLaughlin about the big weekend fights in the United Kingdom, and we lead off with analysis from Travis Hartman and John J. Raspanti of Saturday night's Golovkin-Martirosyan bout, Canelo's Clenbuterol conundrum, and more.
Dennis Taylor is host of The Ringside Boxing Show, editor-publisher of www.ringsideboxingshow.com, and co-author (with John J. Raspanti) of "Intimate Warfare: The True Story of the Arturo Gatti and Micky Ward Boxing Trilogy," currently on Amazon's Bestseller list.
