Joe begins the Thursday show with a bit of pop culture. Everyone is talking about The Sphere in Las Vegas. Well, it was announced that the Sphere produced a loss of over $98 million. Joe’s no financial expert, but he thinks that the fact that the first U2 shows weren’t until the very end of the fiscal quarter, that may have played a part.

On to the sports portion of the show, Joe shares some of the MLB offseason news over the last few days. WIP’s Howard Eskin reports that Aaron Nola wants a contract in the range of 7 years/$210 million. I’d pass.

Joe mentions that Blake Snell and Sonny Gray are free agents that could replace Aaron Nola. Joe thinks Blake Snell may be a 5 or 6 inning pitcher, and Sonny Gray may not be a big market pitcher.

There have been reports that Nick Castellanos is being offered on the trade market right now. Castellanos is way too streaky and he chases way too many pitches low and away. His poor performances when it matters most the last two years make him expendable.

It was announced on Wednesday that Bryce Harper will be the permanent first baseman, meaning Rhys Hoskins is the odd man out since he’s a free agent. It may mean there’s a free agent target that would fill an outfield spot, possibly Cody Bellinger.

Rockin’ Reese joins me and we talk about the upcoming Phillies part of MLB Free Agency. Also, we talk about Jon Runyan Jr’s story about how he thinks the NFL is trying to phase out QB sneaks, which is more than the Brotherly Shove play.

Reese and I review the Eagles schedule along with some other NFL contenders. Joe still stands by his 3-2 thoughts over the next 5 Eagles games, and we determine that Taylor Swift will probably be unavailable for her beau Travis because she will be in Brazil on tour.

Reese and I talk Flyers. Joe saw that loss to San Jose coming from a mile away based on his “they’re due” theory. Flyers are rebuilding and you have to give them time to learn to win in the NHL together. Then we close out with the NBA in-season tourney.

Captain Ron also joins me and we talk Bleacher Brothers, rivalries, the TNF game being hot garbage, and the No Filter platform and mission statement. Joe reviews some of his MLB stories: Nola wants 7 years/210 million. Bryce Harper being the permanent first baseman, and Nick Castellanos is on the trading block. Joe then mentions a possible trade partner might be Alex Verdugo of the Red Sox.

Ron Washington was hired by the LA Angels. He took the Rangers to two World Series and then was the third base coach for the Atlanta Braves. It’s probably a short term hire in Joe’s opinion due to his age (71 years old).

Joe plays what he calls Chan Ho Park’s walk up song (a No Filter inside joke) as the MLB general manager meetings because of a non-COVID virus running through the executives.

Finally, Joe closes out the show with the Philly Phade with both college and pro football selections.
