On this week's episode of Stoned Appetit presented by Standing Akimbo Dispensary (the best MED dispensary in Colorado), we sit down to discuss news from around the community & we got a big bet on the line this week.
We break down the week that was, talk about the party sesh in Vail for Vail Wine Classic, and get ready for Rare Steak Fest this week! All the wine & eats your heart could desire... if only our bodies would withstand the onslaught. In addition to that, we recap the Dan Adam's article from The Boston Globe, talking about 1906 Edible brand potentially aware of their nighttime sleep aid poisoning people's livers. Its a doozy of a discussion that more people should know about.
Then we do a complete 180 in the second half the episode, we sit down with Next Level Burger founder, Matt de Gruyter (don't ask about pronunciation, it's a tough one) to talk about them bringing their vegan-burger concept to Colorado. You may have heard of NLB when traveling, as you can find their locations in Oregon, Washington, New York, ATX and other bustling crunchy communities.. but they are about to open their first spot here in the Mile High City. We talk with Matt about how he found himself eating rabbit food, the effects of eliminating just one meal of red meat out of your diet (or 8 lbs in some people's case) & then we talk about how we should feel about this new addition to our culinary community.
Lemme tell ya what, the burgers taste like a good, normal burger.. but the hotdog. THE HOT DOG is fucking legit.... you wouldn't know it was vegan if someone forced the glizzy down your throat. Great convo, even better food (to our surprise) with a kickass guest. All in all, one of our better episodes.
Also, Kip & Chris are wagering $500 to see who can go animal-free meat the longest, stay tuned on our social media and to next week's episode to see how the abstinence is going!
