Episodio 3: AI AL MICROFONO

In questo breve e particolare episodio di "Talks About AI", vi farò letteralmente sentire e scoprire una nuova funzione sperimentale dell'intelligenza artificiale.

"Hey everyone, and welcome back for another deep dive. This time we're going deep into the future of photography. But it's a future where the cameras, well, they might not be capturing reality as much as they're creating it. Yeah, we're going to be talking AI. We're going to talk ethics. And what happens when seeing is no longer believing. And just so you know, this whole deep dive is curated just for you, especially because we know you're interested in AI and how it's changing photography. Yeah, it's definitely one of the most, um, kind of fast moving and fascinating areas, um, in tech right now. Totally. And one artist who is really like going headfirst into all these questions in a way that really makes you think, is Barbra Xenon? She's a photographer, but she's not at all afraid to use AI in her work, which is really cool. But she's also at the same time sort of waving these big warning flags about, like the ethical side of it all. What I think is so interesting about Zenon is that she doesn't just use AI as like a tool, you know, she uses it to make us really question like what a photograph even is anymore. Like, have you seen her exhibitions? I have not seen one in person. Oh they're incredible. They're full of these really striking, almost surreal photos, and they're all made with AI. But and this is the thing, she's not trying to trick anyone, right? She's not trying to pass them off as just regular photography. Instead, she makes it really obvious that it's artificial. Like she wants you to confront the fact that what you're looking at is, like, totally made up. So it's almost like she's saying, hey, this is what I can do, but like, don't be fooled by it. Which is kind of wild when you think about how much we just automatically trust what we see with our own eyes. Exactly. And that's what I think is so important about her work. Yeah, she's bringing up these super important questions about authenticity, you know, about whether something is real or fake, especially now with all these AI tools like Dali and Midjourney that can just whip up photorealistic pictures from just a few words. Yeah, like I've seen some crazy stuff online and I'm just like, hold on, is that even real? It makes you wonder how much of what we see is actually, you know, real. Oh for sure."

ITALIANO: "Ciao a tutti e bentornati per un nuovo approfondimento. Questa volta ci immergeremo nel futuro della fotografia. Ma è un futuro in cui le fotocamere, beh, potrebbero non catturare più la realtà tanto quanto la stanno creando. Sì, parleremo di intelligenza artificiale, parleremo di etica. E di cosa succede quando vedere non significa più credere. E giusto per farvelo sapere, tutto questo approfondimento è stato creato apposta per voi, soprattutto perché sappiamo che siete interessati all'AI e a come sta cambiando la fotografia.È sicuramente uno degli ambiti più rapidi ed affascinanti della tecnologia al momento, no? Assolutamente. E un’artista che si sta davvero immergendo in tutte queste domande, in un modo che ti fa davvero riflettere, è Barbara Zanon. Lei è una fotografa, ma non ha affatto paura di usare l'AI nel suo lavoro, il che è davvero interessante. Ma, allo stesso tempo, sta anche lanciando grandi segnali di allarme, soprattutto sul lato etico di tutta questa questione.Quello che trovo così interessante di Zanon è che non usa semplicemente l’AI come uno strumento, capisci? La usa per farci davvero mettere in discussione cosa sia una fotografia al giorno d'oggi. Tipo, hai visto le sue mostre? No, non ho mai visto una di persona. Oh, sono incredibili. Sono piene di queste foto quasi surreali, e sono tutte fatte con l'AI. Ma, e questa è la parte importante, lei non cerca di ingannare nessuno, giusto? Non cerca di farle passare per fotografie normali. Al contrario, rende tutto evidente, è chiaro che è artificiale. Vuole che affrontiamo il fatto che quello che stiamo guardando è totalmente inventato. È quasi come se dicesse: “Ehi, guarda cosa posso fare, ma non farti ingannare da questo.” Ed è davvero pazzesco, se pensi a quanto ci fidiamo automaticamente di quello che vediamo con i nostri occhi.Esattamente. Ed è questo il punto importante del suo lavoro. Sta sollevando domande fondamentali sull'autenticità, sai, su cosa sia vero e cosa falso, soprattutto ora con tutti questi strumenti come Dall-E e Midjourney che possono creare immagini fotorealistiche da poche parole. Sì, ho visto alcune cose folli online e mi sono chiesto: "Aspetta, ma è reale?". Ti fa davvero riflettere su quanto di quello che vediamo sia effettivamente, sai, vero. Oh, sicuramente. Penso che vedremo sempre più di queste cose, e sarà sempre più difficile capire cosa è reale. E qui diventa davvero serio, soprattutto quando pensi alle notizie, perché a quel punto non si tratta più solo di arte. Si tratta del potenziale per l'AI di essere usata per, sai, manipolare le persone e diffondere disinformazione."
