Every wonder why we are the way that we are, Slackers?
Each generation is shaped by the "big events" that impact the culture of the time. In this episode, I give my top 5 most significant events that I think have caused us to have a certain sense of cynicism, mixed in with this weirdly optimistic outlook on life. I can't really put my finger on it, other than to say it makes perfect sense why we have perfected gallows humor!
From the assassination attempts of world leaders, to space travel disasters, to terrorist attacks, we have experienced some awful culturally significant moments, yet somehow we keep laughing despite it all. Is it merely our generation's coping mechanism or are we really just that sick and twisted? Probably a little a bit of both, huh?
Regardless, I'd much rather laugh at the trials and tribulations of life...what about you? And what did I miss? What big events should have made the list? Let me know in the comments or over on any of the social media platforms.
