The Fourth of July, which commemorates American independence, has often been viewed as a celebration that may not have fully represented or included us, in the past. Fourth of July historically was not a day of liberation or equality for us.

On the other hand, Juneteenth, marks the emancipation of our enslaved ancestors and holds deep significance us. The movement or effort within white communities to claim Juneteenth, their way and how this disrespects our ancestors.

The tension between the historical context of the Fourth of July and the growing recognition and ownership of Juneteenth by the oppressors.We highlight the dynamics of representation, celebration, and cultural identity within the context of these two significant dates in America’s dark history.
