Mexico has a significant problem with missing persons, with tens of thousands of people disappearing over the past several decades. The issue has been exacerbated by factors such as drug trafficking, gang violence, corruption, and a weak justice system. Many of the missing persons are believed to have been victims of violence, including forced disappearances, kidnapping, and homicide.
The Mexican government has taken some steps to address the problem, including the creation of a national registry of missing persons and the establishment of special investigative units. However, there are ongoing concerns about the government's ability to effectively investigate and prosecute cases, as well as the safety of human rights activists and families who speak out about the issue.
In this epsiode, we see take a look at the issue and what, if anything the government of Mexico plans on doing to stem the tide of kidnappings.
