Teacher
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; - 2 Timothy 3:16 NASB
This role has a tendency to squeeze out the other roles in the modern day church.
It's a gift of the Spirit! So we know this is very, very, very important.
In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. - Romans 12:6-7 NLT
Teaching should never replace the other discipleship roles.
But be sure that everything is done properly and in order. - 1 Corinthians 14:40 NLT
Main function is to teach doctrine.
> Not just knowledge but more importantly… UNDERSTANDING!
> We won't need an Apologetics class, an Eschatology class, Evangelizing class, a Faith class... if we have discipled correctly. With that said, we don't need to get rid of these classes either. We just want them in their proper order.
> When we shift from a teaching only mindset to a full discipleship mindset we are going to end up in new territory.
We are going experience a vital change from a mostly ineffective body of Christ to a local church that is going to be informed, capable, and effective.
It's not going to look like what we have at all and that is another area that we will realize… because understanding is renewing the mind for the very change we are looking for.
> Awareness of learning styles. Ask the student how they like to learn!
> Confirm learning. Check for Student Understanding.
> Test learning.
