Description
Episode three of the Rugby League Hour on The Platform is here! Brought to you by MicroBio Solutions Limited. Every Monday during the 2024 NRL season, It's Only Sport host...
show moreRound three is done and dusted in the NRL, one that kicked off with a Grand Final rematch between the Penrith Panthers and Brisbane Broncos on Thursday night, which saw the Panthers prevail just like they did last October in Homebush. Marty and Kempy work their way through some of the key matchups over the weekend including the Wests Tigers' shock 32-6 thumping of the Cronulla Sharks and the Roosters clocking up a huge win over old foes the South Sydney Rabbitohs 48-6. Marty and Kempy also discuss concerns surrounding the Broncos' health, with three key players in captain Adam Reynolds, prop Payne Haas and fullback Reece Walsh suffering injuries recently.
After that it's Up The Wahs, a segment dedicated solely to the Warriors. The lone Kiwi club in the NRL finally bagged a win in 2024, beating the Canberra Raiders 18-10 in Christchurch. They made tough work of it, but having left some points out there on the field, are the Warriors far better than their 1-2 record suggests?
This week on He's A Ledge, Marty and Kempy chat with former Warriors, Tigers and Dragons frontrower Russell Packer, who talks all about what he's up to now, the modern day prop, his chequered past and his road to redemption, and more.
Then, Marty and Kempy go head-to-head debating a handful of rugby league topics, including whether or not Taylan May should be suspended for his tackle on Reece Walsh, are the Warriors a top four side, and whether South Sydney should sack Jason Demetriou or not. Kempy hands out the Effluex clean-up award for the player, coach or team who did their job better than anyone else on the weekend - someone who rolled up their sleeves and turned gunk into gold. And to finish things off, Kempy lists his five best teams in the NRL right now on TK's Top.
