She faced numerous challenges, entered into marriage only to experience divorce, raised two children, and ultimately established the Mary Vincent Foundation to assist other victims of violent crimes.

In 2003, she shared with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, I have sustained broken bones as a result of my nightmares. I have leapt from my bed, dislocating my shoulder in the process. I have fractured ribs and broken my nose.
Ultimately, Vincent found solace in art, which became a means for her to manage the trauma she had experienced. Lacking the financial resources to purchase expensive prosthetic arms, she ingeniously fashioned her own from components of refrigerators and stereo systems, simultaneously teaching herself the skills of drawing and painting with her creations.
Prior to the incident, Mary Vincent shared with the Ventura County Star, I was unable to draw a straight line. Even with a ruler, I would make mistakes. This talent emerged after the attack, and my artistic endeavors have inspired me and bolstered my self-esteem.
Within two weeks following the attack, Vincent commenced the use of prosthetic arms. A person with a penchant for tinkering, she has creatively repurposed components from discarded electronics to enhance her prosthetics with personalized modifications. In the aftermath of the attack, she embarked on a new career in the arts.
