Story Transcript:
En: In the heart of Copenhagen, on a busy Saturday morning, Lars patiently waited in the long, winding queue at the small local bakery. He was a big fan of the special cinnamon star that the baker had invented himself. If the smell of freshly baked bread and cinnamon had been any stronger, it would have been able to attract residents from all over the city.
En: As time passed, the queue moved slowly forward. With each step, Lars could smell the freshly baked cinnamon stars more clearly. Despite the long wait, Lars maintained his good mood. He thought about how good it would taste with a steaming cup of coffee and a freshly baked cinnamon star.
En: He greeted Sofie, the friendly employee at the bakery, with a pulsing smile when it finally became his turn. She had a tired, but patient smile that had a calming effect on the impatient customers.
En: Lars opened his mouth to order his cinnamon star, but Sofie quickly interrupted him with an apologetic voice. "I'm sorry, Lars, but we just sold the last cinnamon star to Frederikke." She pointed over to a young woman at a table who was happily indulging in the cinnamon star.
En: Lars felt a hint of disappointment. He had really been looking forward to that cinnamon star. But he quickly decided that it shouldn't ruin his day. He briefly checked the menu and chose a croissant instead.
En: Lars went over and sat at an empty table, still overlooking Frederikke, who was enjoying her cinnamon star. He took a bite of his croissant; it was delicious, but it just wasn't the same.
En: Just as he was starting to feel a little better, Frederikke came over to Lars. She apologized for buying the last cinnamon star. She had heard about Lars and his love for cinnamon stars from Sofie. They struck up a conversation, and soon they formed a friendship based on their shared love of pastries.
En: Even though Lars didn't get his cinnamon star that day, the day ended with something even better. He gained a new friend in Frederikke and a regular coffee date every Saturday morning at the small local bakery. And whether there were cinnamon stars or not, they would still enjoy their time together.
