In 2011, Mohammed Hakmi fled his home in Syria when war was declared in his country. He moved to Lebonan, where he lived for 8 years. In 2018, Kris Braun met Mohammed over email. 11 months later, Kris brought Mohammed to Canada as the first Syrian refugee to be hired directly into Canadian tech. Today, Mohammed and Kris are both engineers at Bonfire, a software company in Waterloo. On this episode, we talk to both Mohammed and Kris about how this story came together.
