show moreWilliam Thomas Sadler (born April 13, 1950)[1] is an American stage, film, and television actor. His television and motion picture roles have included Chesty Puller in The Pacific, Luther Sloan in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Sheriff Jim Valenti in Roswell, convict Heywood in The Shawshank Redemption, Senator Vernon Trent in Hard to Kill, Death in Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey and Bill & Ted Face the Music,[2] and Colonel Stuart in Die Hard 2. He played Matthew Ellis in Iron Man 3, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and WHIH Newsfront. He also recurs as John McGarrett in the 2010 remake of the 1968 television series Hawaii Five-O, and the Boston boxing promoter and suspected drug dealer Gino Fish in the Jesse Stone television film series, opposite Tom Selleck. He also played Don in the 1992 movie Trespass.
He stars in his latest film “A Stage of Twilight” alongside Karen Allen ("Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull,” “Indiana Jones And The Dial of Destiny, “The Sandlot”). The film, which premiered with a limited theater run this March, is now available to stream on demand on Amazon, Vudu, Vubiquity/Verizon Fios, Hoopla, Charter/Spectrum, Comcast/Xfinity, and Cox.
The film is a love story set in the final chapter of Cora (Karen Allen) and Barry's lives. When Barry (William Sadler) is confronted with a terminal diagnosis, he is compelled to make a decision that his wife cannot support. The film asks the question: whose right is it to make life's inevitable impossible decisions when the impact will be felt by the people we love most?
