In a recent interview with TIME on December 12, President-elect Donald Trump warned that the U.S. would impose heavy tariffs and halt trade with countries that refuse to accept the return of illegal immigrants deported by the United States."I will send them back to their countries, or we will stop doing business with those countries," Trump stated, explaining his plan for mass deportation. His remarks came as he was named TIME's Person of the Year 2024.Border security and immigration are set to be two key issues for Trump’s second term in office.
