show moreI recently had the privilege of having him as a guest on my podcast. He had a lot of valuable insights and advice.
Two things that Adam said that stood out to me during our chat were.
His 3 top tips for reverse marketing:
“Sometimes it's not appropriate to call when it's convenient for ourselves or the consultant. It's most appropriate to call when the business has an opportunity to listen. I guess the second point that I would probably make with be to let your intention known as early on as possible and what I mean with that is, it's not so much about the 'Hi, how are you?' and the small chat, because at the end of the day time in business is valuable and we appreciate time. So, making sure that the conversation is quick, precise and to-the-point is very important. And then the third thing that I would say or would give would be to try and warm up your lead as much as possible. We only know what we know. So that's why talking to people inside the industry, outside the industry when you're out talking to other businesses.”
Important factors to consider when it comes to helping someone become job-ready:
“I guess the big thing that I would say would be about, ensuring that circumstances for your participant or your jobseeker are right to be able to sustain employment. And when we talk about sustain employment, everybody's got different circumstances. My circumstances would be different from the person sitting next to me, and that person’s circumstances would be different from the person sitting next to them. At the end of the day, what we help to do, is remove any barriers that maybe there to employment. Because it can be tough to focus on actually moving forward into work if we’re concerned about where my next meal is coming from or do I have a roof over my head. These kinds of barriers that we probably don't quite often talk enough about, are super important to the likelihood of success in long-term work. By working with people and helping to overcome those barriers, that’s probably where the next stage of building traits of patience, resilience and the ability to communicate effectively really come in. So, it can be a journey to go from point A to point B.”
