Welcome to the Focused Nutrition podcast, where we explore the latest research and expert advice on how to fuel your body for optimal health and performance. In today's episode, we're going to talk about a topic that affects many of us: stress and its impact on healthy eating.
We all experience stress at some point in our lives, whether it's from work, relationships, or other life events. Unfortunately, stress can have a significant impact on our eating habits, leading to poor food choices and unhealthy eating patterns.
When we're stressed, we tend to reach for comfort foods that are high in sugar, fat, and calories, which can lead to weight gain and other health issues.But why does stress cause us to eat unhealthy foods? One reason is that stress triggers the release of cortisol, a hormone that increases our appetite and cravings for high-calorie foods. Additionally, when we're stressed, we're less likely to make rational decisions about what we eat, opting instead for quick and easy options that are often less nutritious.
