Welcome to the Union Federation Podcast on the Fandom Podcast Network & The BQN Network! On this episode Kevin Reitzel, Amy Nelson & Joe Keegan review The Orville: 'Sympathy for the Devil' Novella (2022). This episode was fully written, but ultimately unable to be filmed due to a variety of issues (largely surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic). Seth MacFarlane instead reworked it into a novella, which was released in e-book and audiobook format on July 19, 2022. It is considered canon.

The season was initially announced as consisting of eleven episodes, but one episode was not filmed due to pandemic-related travel restrictions. Titled "Sympathy for the Devil", it was instead adapted as a novelization written by MacFarlane, and takes place between episode 8 "Midnight Blue" and episode 9 "Domino". The audiobook is narrated by guest star Bruce Boxleitner.
