Story Transcript:

Ca: Els raigs de sol queien damunt les cases colorides del Barri Gòtic de Barcelona. Un dia radiant, ideal per escoltar una història pintoresca. Marta, Pau i Laia eren amics. Els agradava passejar per les estretes rambles del barri antic. Avui, es van trobar amb una situació ben curiosa.
En: The sun rays were falling upon the colorful houses of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona. It was a radiant day, ideal for listening to a picturesque story. Marta, Pau, and Laia were friends. They enjoyed strolling through the narrow streets of the old quarter. Today, they encountered a rather curious situation.

Ca: Un turista alt amb ulleres de sol estava girant un "caganer", figura de ceràmica, amb cara confosa. No entenia el sentit de la figura en una bóta de Nadal. Marta, sempre amable, es va acostar a ell amb un somriure. Començà a explicar de què es tractava.
En: A tall tourist with sunglasses was puzzled by a "caganer," a ceramic figure. He didn't understand the meaning of the figure in a Christmas Nativity scene. Marta, always kind, approached him with a smile. She began to explain what it was all about.

Ca: "Pot semblar estrany," li digué, "però és una tradició molt nostra. El caganer representa l'equilibri de la natura i la fertilització de la terra." Ella li va senyalar detalls de la figura. El turista va escoltar amb interès, però semblava encara més confós.
En: "It may seem strange," she said, "but it is a very unique tradition of ours. The 'caganer' represents the balance of nature and the fertilization of the earth." She pointed out details of the figure. The tourist listened with interest, but still appeared confused.

Ca: Pau, el divertit del grup, va intervenir amb un somriure pícarament. "El caganer també afegeix un toc d'humor. Imagineu, un personatge fent les seves necessitats en un pessebre!" El turista va riure.

Ca: Però ell encara tenia preguntes. "Però per què al pessebre, al costat de Jesús?". Aquí va intervenir Laia, la més culta. "No és cap falta de respecte. De fet, el caganer és tot un símbol de nostres festes".
En: But he still had questions. "But why in the nativity scene, next to Jesus?" Laia, the most knowledgeable of the trio, stepped in. "It is not meant as disrespect. In fact, the 'caganer' is a significant symbol of our celebrations."

Ca: Marta, Pau i Laia van passar una bona estona fent córrer la seva sabidoria. No tots els dies es té l'oportunitat d'explicar una de les nostres curioses tradicions a estranys. I el turista, per la seva part, estava encantat d'haver après una cosa tan única.

Ca: Així, els tres amics continuaren el seu passeig, sabent que havien contribuït a difondre una mica més de la cultura catalana. I el turista? Doncs, agafà el caganer amb una rialla, decidit a portar aquesta peculiar tradició a casa seva.
