Insightview asks Niels Bjerre-Poulsen about the consensus across political divides in Congress regarding foreign policy and the economy. Furthermore, we talk about the similarities today and what the US experienced in the 1920s and 1930s after the First World War, when the "America First" movement, isolationism and a strong wave of ultra-right nationalism emerged. Niels Bjerre-Poulsen fears what is coming if President Trump is elected for a second term in the White House.
Niels Bjerre-Poulsen is an Associate Professor at the Center for American Studies, University of Southern Denmark (2010-). His research primarily focuses on American political culture, U.S. foreign relations, and the American presidency. He holds a PhD in American History from the University of California, Santa Barbara, an MA in History from the University of Copenhagen, and a BA in American Studies from the University of Copenhagen. Before joining the faculty at the University of Southern Denmark, Niels Bjerre-Poulsen was an Associate Professor at the Copenhagen Business School, where he also served as the Director of the Center for the Study of the Americas.
