show moreFollowing three EP's and a debut album - Florescence - in 2019, Eat Your Heart Out have carved their name on the back of a trademark amalgamation of pop, punk, rock, emo and alternative rock that on paper shouldn't gel but somehow does in the band's capable hands.
Earlier this month the band released their sophomore album Can't Stay Forever, an album shaped by finding positivity in the unknown and one which further enhances their universal appeal.
Vocalist Caitlin Henry sat down with HEAVY to talk about the new album.
"We didn't really set out with a specific direction," she explained. "We didn't have an idea of what we wanted it to sound like specifically. We weren't going for a radical sound change or anything like that from our previous work, but the main thing was just that we really wanted the record to show our growth as songwriters and musicians. Which is obviously hard to gauge from the inside (laughs). Now that it's out that has been one of the main things that we've been seeing people say in their reviews that they can see that growth, which is all we really hoped for."
In the full interview, Caitlin talks more about Can't Stay Forever and its direction, the themes running through the album, how it differs to Florescence, the unique recording style where the band holed up in a remote studio, the singles released and how they represent the album as a whole, future plans and more.
