Swedish atmospheric death metal outfit Wormwood have steadily built themselves into a metal force since their inception in 2014.
Combining complex and meaningful subject matter with haunting vocals and a cinematic landscape both musically and visually, Wormwood broke through with their 2019 album Nattarvet.
The success of that album saw Wormwood in global demand, with a run of national and international dates planned on their quest for world domination before fate stepped in and seemingly halted their progress just as it was starting to build momentum.
Refusing to concede, Wormwood began work on their next album Arkivet which is slated for an August 27 release.
Frontman Nine joined HEAVY to talk about the album, starting with the recent single The Gentle Touch Of Humanity.
"It’s interesting,” he began. “The video and the lyrics weren’t really... when I wrote the lyrics first I didn’t anticipate it to be as environmentally forward. I mostly wrote it as humanity destroys what we create, and we create and destroy and create and destroy in an endless cycle. I didn’t really think too much more about the environmental part until the video was made. Our both visions came together and created it and i think it ended up really, really good. Sadly enough it is age restricted so not too many views at the moment but we will see.’
