ESG stands for assessing risks that have to do with the Environment, Social behavior and Governance when deciding whether to invest in a company. In this sit down, Yaron Brook and host Onno Delange delve into ESG Regulations and look at:
-- Isn't this morally good, and helping pension funds to make prudent investments?
-- Where does the ESG movement come from, is there scientific, objective research that lead to the creation of ESG legislation?
-- Are there systemic risks to ESG for the economy?
-- Which arguments could a pension fund use to form policy that complies to the legislation, but disregards ESG as a leading factor for its investment policy?
-- Can you still invest in oil companies even though the ESG movement will say that oil companies are not beneficial to the environment?
-- Often you hear that corporations shouldn't look at profits only, that this creates a short term view and that ESG legislation helps investors to make sure corporations take the long view. Is this true?
