LONG STORY SHORT
1. WHAT GOD DESIRED OF HIS PEOPLE
Deuteronomy 6:5 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your strength.
Leviticus 19:18 Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people,
but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord.
Exodus 24:3-4 When Moses went and told the people all the LORD’s words and laws,
they responded with one voice, “Everything the LORD has said we will do.” (4) Moses
then wrote down everything the LORD had said.
Exodus 24:7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They
responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.”
Deuteronomy 30:19-20 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you
that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that
you and your children may live (20) and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to
his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many
years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
2. WHAT THE PEOPLE DELIVERED
Isaiah 2:8 Their land is full of idols; they bow down to the work of their hands,
to what their fingers have made.

LONG STORY SHORT
1. THE COVENANT WITH ABRAM.
Genesis 12:1-3 The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. (2) “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. (3) I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 15:8-12 But Abram said, “Sovereign LORD, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?” (9) So the LORD said to him, “Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.” (10) Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half. (11) Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
(12) As the sun was setting, Abram fell into a deep sleep, and a thick and dreadful darkness came over him.
Genesis 15:17-21 When the sun had set and darkness had fallen, a smoking firepot with a blazing torch appeared and passed between the pieces. (18) On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates – (19) the land of the Kenites, Kenizzites, Kadmonites, (20) Hittites, Perizzites, Rephaites,(21) Amorites, Canaanites, Girgashites and Jebusites.”
2. THE COVENANT WITH ISRAEL
Exodus 24:1-7 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Come up to the LORD, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel. You are to worship at a distance, (2) but Moses alone is to approach the LORD; the others must not come near. And the people may not come up with him.” (3) When Moses went and told the people all the LORD’s words and laws, they responded with one voice, “Everything the LORD has said we will do.” (4) Moses then wrote down everything the LORD had said. He got up early the next morning and built an altar at the foot of the mountain and set up twelve stone pillars representing the twelve tribes of Israel. (5) Then he sent young Israelite men, and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as fellowship offerings to the LORD. (6) Moses took half of the blood and put it in bowls, and the other half he splashed against the altar. (7) Then he took the
Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, “We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey.”
Galatians 3:19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of
transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come.
Deuteronomy 7:7-9 The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous than other peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples. (8) But it was because the LORD loved you and kept the oath he swore to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the land of slavery, from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt. (9) Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.
10 SEP 2024 · “Curse”
LONG STORY SHORT
1. NATURAL CORRUPTION
Genesis 3:17-19 To Adam he said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the
tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’
“Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the
days of your life. (18) It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants
of the field. (19) By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the
ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
Genesis 3:16 To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very
severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children.”
2. MORAL CORRUPTION
Genesis 3:22-24 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing
good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of
life and eat, and live forever.” (23) So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden
to work the ground from which he had been taken. (24) After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.
1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.
3 SEP 2024 · “Creation”
LONG STORY SHORT
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
1. GOD IS ALL POWERFUL.
Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal
power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been
made, so that people are without excuse.
Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and
power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their
being.”
2. GOD IS RELATIONAL
Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so
that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and
all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
(27) So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Genesis 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill
the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over
every living creature that moves on the ground.”
Genesis 2:15-17 The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to
work it and take care of it. (16) And the LORD God commanded the man, “You are free
to eat from any tree in the garden; (17) but you must not eat from the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”
Genesis 3:8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was
walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the
trees of the garden.
27 AUG 2024 · “Then Comes a Lifetime Together”
FIRST COMES LOVE
Matthew 19:1-3 When Jesus had finished saying these things, he left Galilee and went into the
region of Judea to the other side of the Jordan. (2) Large crowds followed him, and he healed
them there. (3) Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to
divorce his wife for any and every reason?”
Matthew 19:4-6 “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made
them male and female,’ (5) and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother
and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? (6) So they are no longer two,
but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Matthew 19:6 “Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
1. WHAT GOD HAS JOINED TOGETHER.
2. LET NO ONE SEPARATE
1) A New Family Together
2) Increased Intimacy
3) Shared Half-ness
4) Spiritual Connection
5) Security
18 AUG 2024 · “Then Comes Sacrifice”
FIRST COMES LOVE
Ephesians 5:22-33 Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. (23) For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. (24) Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
(25) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for
her (26) to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, (27) and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. (28) In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. (29) After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church – (30) for we are members of his body.
(31) “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the
two will become one flesh.” (32) This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. (33) However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
1. WIVES SUBMIT
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his
body, of which he is the Savior.
Ephesians 5:24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their
husbands in everything.
2. HUSBANDS LOVE
Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself
up for her
Ephesians 5:28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He
who loves his wife loves himself.
Matthew 7:12 “In everything, do to others what you would have them do to you”
Ephesians 5:33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the
wife must respect her husband.
12 AUG 2024 · “Then Comes Marriage”
FIRST COMES LOVE
Proverbs 24:3-4 By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; (4)
through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.
1. BEFORE YOU ARE MARRIED
Romans 12:10 Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.
2 Corinthians 6:14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and
wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
Psalm 127:1 Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.
2. START YOUR MARRIAGE WELL
Genesis 2:24-25 That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and
they become one flesh. (25) Adam and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure,
for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.

DIRT
Matthew 13:3-9 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. (4) As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. (5) Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. (6) But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. (7) Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. (8) Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. (9) Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
Matthew 13:23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and
understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times
what was sown.
Mark 4:20 Others, like seed sown on good soil, hear the word, accept it, and produce a crop -some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred times what was sown.
Luke 8:15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
1. FAITH BEGINS WITH HEARING, UNDERSTANDING, AND
ACCEPTANCE.
2. WE MUST CONTINUE TO HOLD ONTO FAITH.
Luke 8:15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear
the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
Acts 11:22-23 News of this reached the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas to
Antioch. (23) When he arrived and saw what the grace of God had done, he was glad and
encouraged them all to remain true to the Lord with all their hearts.
3. EVENTUALLY WE WILL PRODUCE FRUIT FOR JESUS.
Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up.

Matthew 13:22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
1. WORRIES OF THIS LIFE
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will
be given to you as well.
2. DECEITFULNESS OF WEALTH
Mark 4:18-19 Still others, like seed sown among thorns, hear the word; (19) but the worries of
this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things come in and choke the word,
making it unfruitful.
3. DESIRE FOR OTHER THINGS
Luke 8:14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on
their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.
