15 SEP 2022 · This year saw the signing of Treaty 6, covering all of southern Alberta. It was also the year that Sitting Bull and his Sioux began to settle in Canada after the Battle of Little Bighorn. Other events of the year included the establishment of the University of Manitoba, the Great Fire of Saint John and the birth of one of Canada's greatest artists, Tom Thomson.

8 SEP 2022 · The year when Harriet Brooks was born, it was also the year that the Sioux began to come into Canada with Sitting Bull, Fort Macleod became the North West Mounted Police headquarters and Treaty 6 was signed.

1 SEP 2022 · Hitting the mid-point of the 1870s, Canada started work on the Canadian Pacific Railway, negotiations on Treaty 5 began and Ontario would go through an election with Oliver Mowat winning the first of many. It was also the birth year for a future Governor General, and it saw the passing of a notable pioneer woman.

25 AUG 2022 · This was a big year for Canada's history. Alexander Graham Bell told his father about his telephone invention in Brantford, the NWMP began their legendary March West, and Treaty 4 was signed. On top of that, there was a federal election and the year saw the birth of two prime ministers, Arthur Meighen and William Lyon Mackenzie King.

18 AUG 2022 · The year 1873 saw the admission of Prince Edward Island into Confederation, the signing of Treaty 3 and one of the worst scandals in Canadian history, the Pacific Scandal. This would see the resignation of Sir John A. Macdonald and the rise of Alexander Mackenzie, our second Prime Minister. It was also the year of the Cypress Hills Massacre and the creation of the North West Mounted Police.

11 AUG 2022 · The year 1872 was a quiet one by most accounts but still an important year in the history of Canada. It was the year that work on Treaty 3 had begun, and an ad was put out for a new police force to serve in the North West Territory. It was also the start of a Liberal dynasty in Ontario, and the federal election would be held with a scandal from it looming on the horizon to burst forth the following year.

4 AUG 2022 · In 1871, the federal government signed Treaties 1 and 2 with the Indigenous, taking over much of southern Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan. This was also the year that BC joined Confederation. While Canada lost a great artist, Paul Kane, this year, it gained a new great artist, Emily Carr.

It also saw the birth of Maude Abbott, the last public hangings in Canadian history and the birth of Eaton's, an iconic Canadian brand.
