16 FEB 2026 · This week on In the Know, Andy Taylor welcomes Debbie Kenyon, President of the Green Valley Council, for an in-depth look at how the Council continues to serve and protect the Green Valley community.
Debbie explains how the Green Valley Council operates as a membership organization representing local homeowners associations, providing a unified voice at the local, state, and federal levels. From advocacy to education, the Council plays a key role in keeping residents informed and engaged.
A major highlight is the Council’s growing series of fraud prevention forums, presented in partnership with the Green Valley Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers Scam Squad. With waiting lists forming, it’s clear residents are eager to learn more about mortgage deed fraud, scam prevention, and how to protect their homes and finances. Additional sessions are already being scheduled to meet demand.
Looking ahead, Debbie previews two major upcoming events at Historic Canoa Ranch:
- Land Stewardship Workshop – March 6 at 9:30 a.m.
Featuring experts from the Desert Museum, University of Arizona Extension, Pima County Conservation Lands, and Regional Flood Control. Topics include wildfire mitigation, buffelgrass management, mapping vulnerable areas, and hands-on species identification.
- 4th Annual First Responders Fair – Saturday, March 14
Gates open at 9 a.m. with a suggested $5 donation benefiting the ranch. The day includes Civil Air Patrol color guard, live demonstrations from Santa Rita Fire District, Sahuarita Police Department, drone deployments, canine units, equine demonstrations, safety programs from Trico, interactive robotics displays, and a large Kids Zone. Andy will be broadcasting live from the event.

10 FEB 2026 · This week on In the Know, Andy Taylor welcomes Valley Assistance Services to talk about one of the community’s most beloved events — the 20th Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser. Chris Erickson and Peggy McGee explain how the event brings the community together through great food, local restaurants, handcrafted bowls, and a shared mission to help neighbors in need.
Listeners learn how Empty Bowls supports Valley Assistance Services’ wide range of programs focused on community health and social services, including eviction prevention, utility assistance, financial education, workforce training, and helping residents safely age in place. Chris highlights how needs in the community continue to grow and how VAS works to provide long-term solutions, not just short-term fixes.
Peggy also discusses the ongoing need for volunteers, especially drivers and receptionists, and shares how volunteers play a critical role in handling the thousands of calls VAS receives each month. From soup flavors and silent auctions to ticket locations and volunteer opportunities, this episode highlights how one event can make a lasting impact across Green Valley and Sahuarita.

6 FEB 2026 · Andy Taylor welcomes Kathy Rice back to the show to kick off the 2026 TMC Mega Raffle, now in its 14th year, celebrating a remarkable milestone—more than $20 million raised to support TMC Health. Kathy explains how raffle proceeds provide unrestricted funding for patient care programs, advanced medical equipment, and new technologies, allowing TMC Health to respond quickly to the areas of greatest need across the hospital system.
Listeners get a detailed look at why the raffle continues to grow in popularity, including the impressive 3,400 prizes and odds of winning at 1 in 20. This year’s top prizes include two cash grand prizes, early-bird giveaways like a Lexus RX 350 plus $30,000 cash, an 11-day Viking cruise to Alaska with $30,000, multiple vehicles with cash, and trips to destinations around the world. Kathy also stresses the importance of buying tickets early, as the raffle has sold out ahead of deadlines in past years.
The conversation also highlights the always-exciting 50/50 Jackpot, which has already surged past $700,000 and has exceeded $1 million in recent years. Kathy shares how easy it is to participate, with add-on ticket bundles starting at just $10, and even a live jackpot ticker on the website so participants can watch it climb in real time.
Adding heart to the excitement, Kathy shares memorable winner stories—from a woman who taped a picture of a raffle car to her refrigerator and won it, to a longtime mail carrier who finally bought a ticket after years of delivering brochures and drove away with a new car. These stories underscore the emotional and community-driven spirit behind the Mega Raffle.
The segment wraps with a reminder that tickets are $100, or three for $250, and are available to anyone 21 or older who is physically in Arizona at the time of purchase—residents and snowbirds alike. Tickets can be purchased at tmcmegaraffle.org or by calling 1-800-395-8805. As Kathy puts it, buying a ticket isn’t just a chance to win—it’s a way for everyone to be part of the everyday miracles happening at TMC Health.
