show moreHost: Happy New Year! Welcome to Ability Anyware Radio, a disability advocacy podcast. This is our first podcast of 2019!
We provide sound bites for our blind listeners and written descriptions and images for our Deaf viewers. You can tune in during breakfast to start your day (rustling of plastic bag followed by sound of cereal being poured into ceramic bowl), on your lunch break, whenever you have a break, or simply to relax and unwind (sound of a person yawning and stretching) before you retire for the evening.
Start off the year by taking our assistive technology (AT) survey! We are interested in your accounts of barriers in life (tasks, transportation, technology, surroundings, exclusionary practices of establishments). We will gather this important data & share with developers in refining AT. Please go to our website at www.abilityanyware.com and click on the Assistive Technology Survey tab to take the survey. We really appreciate your feedback! Thank you in advance for participating.
Also, please be advised that the spring 2019 issue of Ability Anyware Digital Quarterly, also known as AADQ, will be released Friday on March 8, 2019. The deadline to place your advertisement is Friday, January 18, 2019. Please visit our website www.abilityanyware.com and click on AADQ Media Kit tab for advertising and sponsorship details.
Abilities Expo, the event for the disability community is taking place on February 22-24, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA. There is an image of a young gamer, about age 6-8 years old, smiling as he plays a video game in the adaptive gaming pavilion at the event. This can be found on page 19 of AADQ Winter 2018 Issue on page 19 under the Disability Advocacy Events and Calendar. Please visit www.abilitiesexpo.com for more information.
Stay tuned for our Twitter feed for upcoming podcasts with transcripts for our Deaf viewers. Our twitter page is @abilityanyware (same spelling as website). We will be covering accessible healthy lifestyles and personal care, accessible transportation, and multimedia content by artists with exceptional abilities.
Thanks for tuning in with us. We look forward to connecting with you next time.
