18 JUN 2020 · The 2019 Division 1 State Baseball Championship was one for the ages. Two of the powerhouse programs in the state met for a title. Eau Claire North led 2-0, but gave up four unanswered runs to Sun Prairie through the top of the sixth to fall behind 4-2. In the bottom of the sixth, the Huskies began their rally with two outs and nobody on, eventually getting to state baseball and hockey player of the year in Wisconsin, Sam Stange, who launched a 400-foot home run to right-center to put Eau Claire North up 5-4 on the Cardinals, which would be the final score in this all-time classic. 12 JUN 2020 · The very first game of the 2018 WIAA State Baseball Championships featured Waunakee and Eau Claire North in a Division 1 quarterfinal. Waunakee got out to a 5-0 lead, which Eau Claire North rallied back from to tie at 5-5 in the 4th inning. After five innings, it was 7-7. Waunakee's five-run bottom-of-the-sixth put the Warriors up 12-7, enough to hold on and defeat the Huskies 12-8, with the tying run at the plate in the top of the seventh inning. 4 JUN 2020 · The 2017 Division 4 State Football Championship paired up a defending champion (St. Croix Central) against a senior-laden upstart (Lodi) seeking its first-ever football title. Both teams featured outstanding running games; St. Croix Central's vaunted triple-option against Lodi's prolific rusher, Jacob Heyroth. This game went to overtime, where Lodi managed to take down St. Croix Central 17-10 for the Blue Devils' first-ever football championship. [Original Air Date: 11/16/17 on WTSO-AM Madison]
30 MAY 2020 · It was a showcase game highlighting the undefeated Waunakee Warriors against the Whitnall Falcons, led by future NBA lottery pick Tyler Herro. At the Wisconsin Basketball Yearbook Shootout in 2017, it was Waunakee holding the slight edge through most of the game, but after Herro left with injury midway through the second half, the Warriors blew a two-possession game with five minutes to play wide open into a 54-33 rout. 23 MAY 2020 · Monona Grove's road show made its appearance at Waukesha West in Level 3 of the 2016 Division 2 high school football playoffs. The Silver Eagles and Wolverines lit up the scoreboard in the first half, settled into a defensive battle in the second half, and after a missed field goal to end regulation by Monona Grove, headed for overtime. Waukesha West scored first, with Monona Grove answering back. The Silver Eagles decided to go for two and the win, and walked off winners 43-42 in overtime. 14 MAY 2020 · In one of the all-time great finishes, Madison West took down Middleton 30-27 behind a late touchdown run by Keishawn Shanklin in the final seconds to complete their rally in a wild back-and-forth game. The Regents picked up their 10th win and at the time were the first Madison city public school to win two playoff games in a generation, dating to the mid-1980's. 7 MAY 2020 · At the end of the 2017-2018 high school basketball regular season, Monona Grove and Stoughton had even conference records heading into their regular-season finale in boys basketball. The winning team would be outright Badger South Conference champions heading into the postseason. 30 APR 2020 · It was the Division 3 state championship game: Undefeated DeForest versus upstart Menasha. After Menasha scored on the opening drive, it took Deforest until the final minute to get on the board. 23 APR 2020 · Fresh into the new year, Madison La Follette was coming off of a win over defending 2019 state champion Brookfield Central. Next up was 2019's runner up, Sun Prairie. La Follette led most of the way, but Sun Prairie kept charging back, all the way until the final moments. La Follette won 83-76 to stay undefeated at the time. 16 APR 2020 · Homecoming 2019 featured an undefeated Madison Memorial team set to take on one of the state's best offenses in Verona. It was all Wildcats through three quarters, leading 24-7 heading into the final frame. Memorial, however, would reel off 20 unanswered points, culminating in a walk-off touchdown plunge by Kabaris Vasser and a final score of 27-24.
