The Pat Tillman award: recognizes a person with a strong connection to sports who has served others in a way that echoes the late Tillman's legacy.
Who was Pat Tillman?
Pat Tillman, a former safety for the Arizona Cardinals, After 911, Tillman left the NFL to serve in Iraq and then Afghanistan before he was killed by friendly fire in 2004, Tillman was awarded the Silver Star and Purple Heart for his service.
What is the Invictus Games? The Invictus Games is an international multi-sport event first held in 2014, for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans.
