I'm excited to share this episode, where I talk to Joanne Hewitt of Bowen College UK who has the vision of seeing a Bowen Practitioner in every GP surgery.
She was inspired while working as a practice manager in a GP surgery by Paula Esson and decided to make a career shift and train in Bowen (whilst pregnant) and went on to do a lot of work with children and pregnant women.
Joanne talks to us about the value of the new introduction weekends that are now available through the Bowen College to begin as a stepping stone to full training, but also to help families to be able to better support one another, reducing the NHS burden.
She's very keen to promote the idea of maintenance rather than breakdown and also incorporates Homeobotanicals in her work. I hope you enjoy the episode.

18 SEP 2024 · Welcome to the next in my series of interviews with leading figures in the world of Bowen Technique.
I am grateful to share some time with the founder of The Bowen College Canada - Manon Bolliger, who aside from her wonderful work in Bowen Technique, is also a published author, TEDX speaker and a deregistered Naturopath. In our interview, we talk about how Manon worked with Ossie and went on to develop the modular system of Bowen teaching before moving to start the Bowen College in Canada so she could include more aspects that she felt were relevant and important in the curriculum.
We discuss her vision (and also the title of one of her books) to have a healer in every household and what that might mean for healthcare and the world in general.

1 SEP 2024 · Hello once again from me as I bring you the next of the interviews with the BTPA.
In this episode I'm very excited to be interviewing Jihan Adem of the Bowen College UK. We talk about her history and how she got into Bowen before getting into why she is so passionate about teaching this work and what her deep interests are; TMJ, Breathing and their relationship to sleep.
We also talk to her about her upcoming CPD workshop for the BTPA AGM on 5th October 2024 - open to members and non-members, where she is sharing some of the wonderful Empowering Movement training she has developed with Rebecca Ellis to help physical therapists explore exercises and movement practices that can be safely used with their clients to help further their rehabilitation (we are REALLY looking forward to experiencing this)
We also talk about how Jihan was part of an international team, along with fascia legend Robert Schleip, to develop the first ever fascia network plastination for the Body Works exhibition in Berlin.

5 AUG 2024 · In the next of the series of interviews with prominent teachers and thinkers in the world of the Bowen Technique, I am really excited to share our latest interview with Canadian Bowen teacher and Homeopath Jonathan Damonte.
Jonathan has been involved in the founding of Bowen Canada and the Bowen Therapy Clinics, the North American Bowen Teaching College and Bowen Online. He is a registered homeopath and has created the training portal Homeopathy Simplified for people to understand how they can use homeopathy in an easy way.
In this episode, we talk about how Jonathan came to the world of Bowen and how his interest in homeopathy has informed his approach to working with Bowen Technique and how he combines the two disciplines to create better outcomes for his clients.

In this episode I'm grateful to be joined by John Wilks of Our Birth Journey, a well known and well regarded teacher of Bowen for many years who gave attended the BTPA AGM in 2023 and gave a fascinating workshop on considerations around pregnancy and birth for mother and baby.

5 JUL 2024 · In the next of our series of interviews with key figures and teachers in the world of Bowen, it is our great pleasure to share our interview with Paula Esson.
Paula has been an exceptional example of tenacity and diligence when it comes to getting Bowen into the more mainstream focus and use in the NHS. Having pioneered the Northern Integrative Health Practice (NHIP) a collaborative partnership between the NHS and a multi-disciplinary team for chronic pain management, Paula has led the way in helping Bowen gain the recognition it really deserves.
Paula talks about her development, coming from a sports science background, through to her current role working with elite footballers and her fascination with neuroscience and the role it plays in Bowen Technique.
It was so great to chat with Paula again, having been taught by her in my Sport 1 and 2 modules and having the greatest of respect for how she conducts herself and what a credit to the world of Bowen she is.

28 JUN 2024 · In the next of my interviews with leading teacher in the Bowen Technique, we are speaking to the lead tutors of the College of Bowen Studies (CBS) here in the UK, Colin Murray and Jo Wortley.
In this interview, we get to hear a little of their history and how they came to Bowen (from Martial Arts and the automotive industry - but guess who did what!) and how they have come to be teaching Bowen in the UK.
We also talk about the developments in the College of Bowen Studies, the updates and improvements to how they are teaching the core Bowen work, from the new student portal to the video content to help students, new illustrated guides and the expanded CPD availability, including the new support aspects for business development and safeguarding they are bringing online soon.
This is another great interview and I'm grateful for the time of all the people involved in helping to promote Bowen Technique.

21 JUN 2024 · In the next of our series of interviews, we are excited to have Phil Steward as our guest. Phil is the brains behind the most recent School of Bowen in the UK Assessment Led Bodywork Training which has been partly inspired by his work with Graham Pennington, who Phil spent time with in Australia and was encouraged by Graham to develop his approach to teaching.
We explore why he's taken this approach to training in the interview Phil also teaches the "Fine Tuning the Neck" workshops, a recognised CPD class with both the BTPA and CBS and we discuss the importance of that work in his expression of Bowen.

14 JUN 2024 · In the third of my new interviews, I speak to Ron Phelan, another of the really big names in the Bowen Technique world.
In this interview, we discuss how Ron found his way from electrical engineering to Bowen Technique and the similarities between them, how he went on to develop his PASC - Practitioner Assessment Skills Courses and his approach to hormonal work through Bowen Technique that was pioneered by Trevor Rose.
Ron talks about what he finds important in assessment and treatment in Bowen, demonstrating how much a multi-disciplinary approach can add to the core work of Bowen, especially the application of kinesiology for assessment, and his interest in using radionics in his work.
He also shares with us his thoughts for where the practice of Bowen is going in the coming years and what he wants to continue with.
