The Lotus Sutra is a cornerstone of Mahayana Buddhism, cherished across various traditions such as Tiantai, Huayan, Pure Land, and Chan. Known in Sanskrit as सद्धर्मपुण्डरीकसूत्रम् (Saddharma Puṇḍarīka Sūtram), which translates to Sūtra on the White Lotus of the True Dharma, it resonates with profound wisdom and transformative teachings. The Chinese rendition, 妙法蓮華經 (Miàofǎ Liánhuá jīng), brilliantly translated by Kumarajiva, embodies the sutras essence, with the title meaning Subtle Dharma Lotus Exalted Sutra. Its significant translations in Korean, Japanese, Tibetan, and Vietnamese underscore its universal significance and cultural relevance. This revered text continues to inspire countless seekers on their spiritual journeys. (Summary created by Geoffrey Edwards using Wikipedia)
