This podcast has come out of conversations between Nic Velissaris and Alicia Benn-Lawler about the issues that arise for both men, women and non-binary post divorce and seperation. Our podcast...
show moreOur podcast seeks to investigate and open up a space for different stories and guidance to be shared and in time a better understanding can be built to guide others going through difficult times.
Broken Men was originally a theatre script written out of Nic's personal journey after his own marriage came to an end. As an established writer and playwright he found an element of liberation creating a fictionalised group of men that could support eachother through difficult times and Nic not only drew on his own experiences, but the stories that others told him while he was going through his own seperation.
Broken Men went through many readings and finally a public reading at The Carlton Courthouse Theatre, Melbourne (Supported by La Mama Theatre) in 2022. The strong and passionate discussion from the audience around this subject highlighted to Nic and Alicia (the producer and director) that certain stories within relationship culture remain taboo and hidden, despite their commonplace.
Therefore in 2024, Nic and Alicia saw Broken Men (theatre script) as a bigger conversation, it was a shared discussion on Mending.
Our goal is to build a platform where all people can share and heal by listening to others stories. A space where therapists and support services can lend advice on Divorce, Seperation and
conscious uncoupling.
