“Moral Side of the News” holds the distinction of being the longest-running local television show in the United States. It originated in 1948 when WHAS-Radio launched a 30-minute radio program featuring a panel of ministers from various religious backgrounds, who examined the moral implications of the week’s news. The inaugural topic discussed was the seizure of illegal stills in Eastern Kentucky. The show made its television debut on WHAS-TV on Tuesday, May 14, 1952, at 9:30 PM.

Since its initial broadcast, the program has consistently explored current news topics through the lenses of morality, ethics, and religion. Today, it airs on WHAS-TV on Sunday mornings at 5:30 AM and Sunday evenings at 8:30 PM on 84WHAS-Radio, as well as on the Faith Channel, WBNA-TV, and numerous local iHeart Radio stations.

Over its impressive 73-year run, the panel has featured many prominent figures in church leadership from the Louisville, KY area.
