27 OCT 2020 · Next gen is finally here -- the PS5 and the Xbox Series X both lie on the horizon. But before we wander off into a new generation of consoles, let's take a step back and remember where we currently are, and how we got here. In this season finale of Random Access Memories, writer/host Wade Ronspies takes the deepest of dives into the origins of our current generation of consoles and how it all happened to begin with. This is the story of how we ended up with a rag-tag group of consoles called the WiiU, the PS4 and the Xbox One -- starting on one fateful day in 2006.

From its origins as an Avengers-esque meeting of the greatest minds in horror like Guillermo del Toro and Junji Ito... to its unfortunate conclusion as vaporware. The myth surrounding this game is absolutely staggering; and the story is incredibly tragic. However, just because the game itself has been lost to the ages, that doesn't mean its legacy went with it -- join writer and host Wade Ronspies as he tells the story of Silent Hills, and how echoes of the project still permeate the industry to this day.
