3 DEC 2024 · Luke 2:1-20 (ESV)
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.

Compassion for the hurting – prayer
Confidence in God – His promises
Courage – in the face of opposition and persecution
Confrontation – confronting sin in the Church
Completion – finishing the work, winning battles
Commandments – teaching and obeying God’s commandments
Confession – humbling ourselves before God and admitting our sins (personally and nationally)
12 NOV 2024 · You have heard it said, “You can’t legislate morality.” The truth is that we are always legislating morality. It is a qustion of whose morality?
We need to ask by what standard? Will our families and communities be founded on the commandments of God or on the beliefs of some other system? Hinduism? Islam - Sharia law? Communism? Enviornmentalism?
Even atheist Richard Dawkins understands that God's way is the best way. He said, “If I had to choose between Christianity and Islam, I’d choose Christianity every single time. I mean, it seems to me to be a fundamentally decent religion in a way that I think Islam is not.”
Or as Francis Schaeffer put it, “Christianity is the only system of thought that is big enough to tackle the social problems of our time.”

Will our efforts be in vain? We know that Christ will ultimately defeat His enemies and we will celebrate the victory for eternity. However, are we wasting our time on these temporal battles? Are our efforts doomed to fail because of the fallenness of man, the prevalence of sin in our culture, and the weakened state of the church. The government is becoming increasingly hostile to Christianity and increasingly pervasive in our lives. The church in America seems weary, impotent, and apathetic. The family is being redefined to mean anything and nothing. Good news! Not only was Nehemiah successful in his work to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, but we are already victorious and daily overcoming our enemies.
27 OCT 2024 · Chad Macy preaches from Nehemiah 5 on confronting sin in our lives and the church.
Is it ok for Christians to get angry?
Is it right for Christians to confront one another over sin?
21 OCT 2024 · If we are going to rebuild the walls in our churches, families, and communities, we need to know that the enemies of God are going to fight against us. We will be rebuilding in the face of ridicule, threats, and anything else the enemy can throw at us. Nehemiah faced similar difficulties when he was rebuilding the walls around Jerusalem over 2,400 years ago. Let’s examine the enemy’s tactics and how godly people responded with courage.
13 OCT 2024 · Chad Macy preaches from Nehemiah 2 on having confidence in God.
7 OCT 2024 · We need godly people to help rebuild our society: family, church, government
By studying Nehemiah, he can help us become the kind of people that can make an impact on our culture. Key verse – chapter 2 - Nehemiah tells them the story of what God has done and what he has come to do to help rebuild the walls. And the people responded, “Let us rise up and build.” So they strengthened their hands for the good work.
