12 JUL 2021 · Today for the SpinProof #IndependentsDay podcast we're joined by Blair Palese who's involved in Voices for Wentworth. Wentworth is an electorate in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney which was held by Malcolm Turnbull - then went to independent Kerryn Phelps who lost by the smallest of margins in the 2019 election to return it to the Liberals. Blair tells us about her involvement, the events Voices of Wentworth are hosting and why it's so important to get and stay involved in our democracy. Another worthwhile interview!
8 JUL 2021 · Matt Murfitt joins the SpinProof podcast. Matt is involved in the Voices of Hume campaign which is taking place in Angus Taylor's regional seat. Being a digital media professional, Matt shares interesting insights into the structure of their campaign - as well as why they're taking on a senior Government Minister. Another excellent podcast from one of the many community groups forming around Australia.
7 JUL 2021 · Today on the SpinProof #IndependentDay podcast we speak with successful business owner - Sue Barrett - who is also involved in the Voices of Goldstein - a community group working to find and elect an independent MP in Tim Wilson's Melbourne electorate. Sue tells us why her group is taking this step, how they're going about it and outlines the positive response they're attracting from the Goldstein community. Well worth a listen!
6 JUL 2021 · As a long time resident of Manly in the electorate of Warringah - Mark Kelly was dissatisfied with the state of politics but felt as people kept voting for Tony Abbott that he must be alone. One day - he sent an email to 8 friends and realised he wasn't alone at all. This then snowballed into the Vote Tony Out movement which played a significant role in electing Independent MP - Zali Steggall. For SpinProof's new #IndependentsDay interview series - Mark Kelly from Vote Tony Out shares his inspirational story and tells us how we can all make a difference. Well worth a listen.
5 JUL 2021 · There's not a better person to launch this #IndependentsDay podcast series than Denis Ginnivan. Denis was very involved with Cathy McGowan’s successful 2013 and 2016 'community up' campaigns in Indi - where she was first elected over Liberal Sophie Mirabella by 413 votes to become Australia’s first female independent MP. Denis was also involved in Helen Haines' successful independent campaign in 2019. Denis is now a champion of the Independents movement Australia wide - and shared his experienced and informed insights with SpinProof. Well worth a listen.
